    • WILL OF THE LATE MR. C. W. PRIEST.
      Testator's Unusual Directions.
Provisions against various recreations are contained in the will of the late Charles William Priest, land agent, of Glenelg, which has been lodged for probate. He died on February 17, and left an estate valued at 15,740. The testament provides that a new Methodist Trust be formed and presented with part of lot No. 74, measuring 50 ft. to the Adelaide road, by a depth of 174ft. It directs that on this land there shall be built a hall of galvanized iron, well lined with plain galvanized iron, 30 x 25 ft., with board floors on joists resting on jarrah beams. From the floor to the ceiling there shall be 14 or 15 ft., with the roof continued 7 ft. at least outside the walls all around.
The testator says:- "I give all the books I have to stock the hall as a free reading room to the intent that all who desire (especially those known as working men) may have access to valuable and costly works without cost. I enjoin that the trust to be formed show marked favour to Rechabites, or moderate section of the Labour Party, but sternly to ban dancing, boxing, and billiards, and such like sport. I bequeath my Alexandria harmonium and library of music to the same cause. About 150 should complete the work." Mr. Priest also bequeathed 20 to the new manse at Glenelg, and 10 each to the Adelaide Benevolent and Stranger' Friend Society, the Children's Hospital, Brighton Institution for the Blind and Deaf and Dumb, and Minda. The residue will be divided among relatives.
